Diamond lichtfeld | DG23

Diamond Lichtfeld is a tool for synaesthetic audio visualization that embodies Luke's exploration of the impact of technology on our senses, particularly within the context of the underground techno music scene.

At its surface, Diamond Lichtfeld is a UV coated projection mapping screen accompanied by laser mapping and programmed LED lights that encircle the projected content.

While it may appear seemingly straightforward in its design and functionality, its aesthetics are rooted in historical context. Early music events were characterized by vibrant, psychedelic designs, the rise of techno and house music in the 90s brought with it the aesthetic of minimalism.

At its core, minimal design is about paring down to the essentials. With its emphasis on simplicity and clean lines, minimalism is about stripping away all extraneous details to create something that delivers a greater impact on the audience. Overly busy or complicated graphics can be distracting and overwhelming, potentially detracting from the overall experience. Focusing on clean, straightforward visuals that complement the music and lighting allows for a more engaging environment.

With Diamond Lichtfeld, Luke immerses himself in the interplay of technology and hands-on processes, aiming to capture a distinct aesthetic and evoke a feeling he describes as the high-end underground.
